
Asus certainly gives no quarter to its rivals with the G70 gaming notebook which is guaranteed to offer smokin’ performance that will please even the most hardcore gamers on-the-go. I’d remain within striking distance of a power outlet though, since gaming notebooks have a notorious reputation of sucking up battery life faster than a Hummer empties its gas tank. Guess the Eee PC legion shows no sign of abating, with the Akoya Mini from Medion being the latest entry in this market segment. This 10″ notebook is powered by Intel’s Atom processor, leaning on a standard hard drive instead of SSD, some form of on-board Linux, 1GB RAM, two USB 2.0 ports, a memory card slot, VGA out, and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. It will be released in Europe soon, priced from €399 upwards with no word on a US release.

Asustek has announced a new series of notebooks which will launch by this June, including the 11″ S6 as well as the 12″ U6. Both notebooks will feature bamboo coverings that are meant to promote the use of environmentally friendly materials in the tech world - something some companies don’t have a clue about still. These notebooks will retail for approximately $1,651.80 when available.
