Zune PC software very difficult to use May 31, 2010 SocialPhilosopher (Seattle, WA, USA) I've had my 4 GB Zune for about two years and have always updated the software in my two computers with the latest versions. However, I've had nothing but problems with importing my library of more that 200 MP3 files into the player. One must use the Zune software to do this, and it is very difficult to use and inconsistent. There is no mystery to me at all, why the Microsoft Zune players still have so little market share. They should enable it to use Windows Explorer to drag-and-drop music into it and create play lists. Most everyone already knows how to use Windows Explorer and I understand many other MP3 players can use it. If those nice folks at Microsoft want to really turn around their Zune situation, they should scrap the Zune software and go with something MUCH simpler and absolutely reliable. To be fair, the portable unit itself works fine. It's just the PC software that is holding it back.
Never thought I'd be an apple fan May 25, 2010 Jaime Turbett (Portland, OR United States) This product is great provided it works. I bought my Zune 10 months ago from walmart, and it was great, it was everything I was looking for. It was cheaper than an ipod and I've always preferred microsoft over Apple anyway. Well I was wrong. 10 months after I bought it the zune completely died. Completely. Will not recognize the device, will not turn on, buttons don't work. So of course I call Microsoft who's help system is less than ideal not to mention they tell me my device with it's one year warranty is not in warranty anymore after 10 months in fact, the warranty apparently expired in December, 5 months after I bought it. Now they're like yeah it'll take 2 weeks to contest the warranty, and then I have to go through a bunch more hoops and like others have said it will take me months to get my device back, and now is not the time to starve me of music...Don't buy a zune. If it stops functioning and it will sooner or later, you are going to regret the purchase. Sometimes the extra money is worth paying. Apple meet a new customer.
RUN AWAY!!! May 24, 2010 Adam C. Christensen (Kent, WA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the Blue Zune 8gb elsewhere. Within 2 hours of getting it charged and playing with it, the controls died. Rebooting it did nothing. None of the suggestions on the Zune site helped, so I sent it in for service.
Service was pretty easy to deal with. I wasn't too happy, though. I sent in a NEW product to get fixed. They sent back a refurb. At least it worked... for a while.
Now, 8 months later, the same thing happened. Now it's getting serviced again.
I'm sick of this crap. I'm done. They may send me another replacement, but I'm still gonna go out and get an Ipod Nano tomorrow.
Goodbye Microsoft. The pleasure's been all yours.

this was a present to my sister. She had some trouble loading the program that feeds songs it the zune for a while. apparently my other friend, also had trouble with the program. so good on the product but software needs help.
LOVE IT! May 18, 2010 L. Frisbie (USA) Love this Zune! My first mp3 player. Easy to use. Only one glitch syncing as I am not the most computer literate person but adding a teenager sped up the whole process. He is an itunes and ipod junkie since that is what he is most comfortable with. (All of his friends have them.)He is loving my Zune though and how it sounds. Even with it being pink, my husband, a Marine likes it so much he wants to take it on business trips with him which means I get a NEW pink, larger capacity ZUNE! I have NUMEROUS kids and they have dropped this, stepped on it, sat on it and it runs like a champ. No scratches or marks. I keep in an arm band when I work out. Amazed at the durability.
