Shameful. September 9, 2010 Rizz When I was thinking about buying a new mp3 player, I wanted the most amount of space. So, I was stuck between the Zune 120, and the Ipod Classic. In the end, I choose the Zune because I really do like it better than the Ipod. Unfortunatly, my 1yr warranty isn't even up yet, and my first Zune lasted about 6 months, then the screen froze up, and it began "clicking". So, I sent it back in, and they sent me another one. This 2nd one lasted only about a WEEK and it did the same thing. The screen froze, and it began clicking and got stuck on the "contact support" page. I never dropped either one. So, now I'm going to see if they will give me my money back, and if not then I'll just keep getting them to send me Zune after Zune after Zune until my 1yr warranty is up. I'm very disappointed by this product. It's a shame, because as a whole...the product is great, and easy to use. If it would JUST.KEEP.WORKING.
NOT The Best Choice, get a Zen - see below for why... September 7, 2010 jonmarmadmax (Florida) Here's why you should not go with the Zune...
1. Durability is lacking... Our Zune gets used about 2 hours a week, certainly not a lot of usage. It broke before it was even 8 months old.
2. Warranty is awful... We paid extra for the red Zune and all Microsoft will send back is a black one, no exceptions... horrible way to do business and will certainly destroy any customer loyalty
3. Zune will not play "universal" video... meaning if you buy non-proprietary movies, shows from Amazon it will not play on the Zune... only these devices will do that http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000038721
I highly recommend getting a media player that uses non-proprietary videos like a Zen... we've had a Zen for years and it gets used a lot... working great... paid $25 for it at Tuesday Morning on clearance.
Holds lots of music, but technology is very outdated! September 6, 2010 Crusader (Palm Springs, CA USA) I went through three of these 120GB players (all red) in a two-year period. Lots of buggy problems, so I had to keep replacing them (glad I purchased a Square Trade warranty for the first one).
Anyhow, yes this player holds a ton of music, pictures, and video. The sound quality is good and the player is easy to operate (for the most part). However, it takes an inordinate amount of time to sync the player with the computer, download new content on the computer, which takes up a lot of hard drive space (80+ GB in my case).
I just got very tired of spending hours each week going though the process, dealing with the marketplace for material, etc.
I finally wised up and purchased a Galaxy S Samsung Captivate phone, and now stream lots of music, podcasts and vodcasts to directly to my phone via WiFi at a fraction of the $14.95 Zune charges each month for their music.
Of late, the Zune Marketplace would flag something like 2,000 of my songs and say things like "no longer available in Marketplace," or some other stupid error.
Unless I physically deleted each one of those 2,000 song, I would get the same error each time I synced. Microsh*t Zune customer service is worthless when it comes to troubleshooting these issues!
Bottom line is that owning and maintaining a Zune just became tedious, like this review will become if I go any further.
For folks who have more patience than me, this player will make you very happy, but it seems like way too much work and effort for the end result!
over priced September 5, 2010 Jerry Gilles (Florida) this zune is over priced their are the same zunes on here for the $299
Dopeness! August 23, 2010 Eric Hopkins I ordered my 120gb Zune & it arrived earlier than i thought! It was in great condition...almost brand new! Everything works fine & i will defenitely will be buyin from INDY again! You should too!
