5 out of 5 stars Awesome Headset! Depends on Your Needs   September 6, 2010

If you're young, want to look cool, and be accepted and respected by your friends, look no further. You won't find a cooler looking headset than this one. Extra plus if you enjoy hip hop or dance music and like it loud with the bass all the way up in the eq. Every time I listen with this headset, I swear I feel like I'm in a club next to the dj. So everything in the middle range is mush and muddy, did you go to the club for music clarity? I rest my case. You want the bass at +10 to dance to and feel it thumping with your heartbeat and lose yourself in the music and dancing. Most of the negative reviews are actually about poor construction. Oh, boo-hoo, they broke. I took one look and I know better not to pull it apart too hard. It's plastic, to make the whole thing with steal would just weigh it down and be extremely uncomfortable. These are the best looking headphones ever created, they will have some drawbacks but it's called handle with care.

Now if you're an audiophile, go enjoy your music with Grado, Sennheiser, or AKG. I actually tested these with my Grado SR60 as a benchmark and the Beats beat it solidly when listening to hip hop or dance music. The Beats sounded horrible with classical and jazz but if that's your thing, these won't be your ideal headphones. Of course you'll look like a total tool with those huge, ugly-looking audiophile headphones sitting by yourself when everyone else is having fun and enjoying their music with their friends.

And then there are the Bose and the brand new B&W class of listeners who enjoy their music but without looking too much like a tool. A tone-down audiophile with class. But these phones come at a very steep price tag.

3 out of 5 stars Head phones   September 6, 2010

These headphones are great except for the cable that comes with them. We already have sent the bad cable back once and now its bad again. Poor quality cables leads to product dissatisfaction. You can't use the headphones without the cable. This happened within the first two weeks of receipt of the headphones.

1 out of 5 stars They will break.   September 1, 2010

Sound quality is good if you like a lot of bass. They can get a little uncomfortable if you wear them for over an hour straight. I like the look of them as well... but there is a huge problem. The quality is terrible. Simply put I would guess that 90% of them will break within 6 months and 100% within 1 year will be broken. My head is average sized and they broke when I took them off one day. Just out of the blue I pulled the headphones apart and SNAP, it breaks slightly above the left earphone hinge. I have had them for about 2.5 to 3 months. The plastic will just not hold up over time. It is a huge design flaw that was somehow overlooked. My warranty covers them, but it is a hassle and I have a feeling I will be having to do it in another 6 months or so. Monster needs to recall this product. Search "Beats by Dre Solos break" and watch some of the videos. You will not want to buy this product.

1 out of 5 stars Great sound, crappy construction   August 15, 2010

I bought these in a jam at the atlanta airport. I paid the $200+ dollars, but thought they were worth every penny for the great sound they produce. Well I have had them for about 6 months and un-folded them and they broke. The plastic band at the top just cracked in two, right above where it splits to fold. So now what? Can't glue them because it is such a weak spot. So now I have a $200 pair of headphones you can hold-up to your ear. I will never buy another product from dre beats. I will buy the bose.

3 out of 5 stars Not What They Seem   August 14, 2010
Camille Yuasa (USA)
Bought a pair of these and within 24 hours, the cover or skin on the right earphone came off. These can be put back on, but only if you have enough patience and skill. The cover should not have fallen off so soon after purchse, although I know they do eventually with use. Anyway, this put a bitter taste in my mouth. Secondly, the sound was not of the great quality I expected after paying $199, plus tax. The sound was stronger in one earphone, but not the other. Hmm..strange. I would say, buy the Able Planet headphones that do help block outside noises and are much cheaper.
